Pea Soup and Apple Pie

My friend Miranda made an apple pie for my visit. From scratch. While it's rather wonderful that someone would make an apple pie in anticipation of you, it's rather more remarkable when you learn that my host is paralyzed from the neck down from a degenerative nerve disease.
